Hi music friends! I’m Jeff Lantz.
When piano called me at the age of eight, I answered. By middle school, I was playing with the high school kids in local bands. In college, I studied classical music. Later, I became a rocker. Recently I’ve been playing more jazz and blues.
I’ve lived and worked as a performing artist for more than half a century, playing music for a living, from classical to jazz to rock to blues to Broadway, with local pros and household names (Gregg Allman, Brian Wilson, Stephen Stills, Jim Peterik, and many others), in front of 80,000 fans, in hole-in-the-wall clubs, and everywhere in between. I’m also a composer, recording artist, producer, and coach. Making music isn’t an easy life, but it holds joy and magic that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
To reach those magical moments, whether on stage with pros or the front porch with family, you must free yourself from dependency on sheet music, charts, and memorization. When you understand music, you can play whatever you hear or whatever you can imagine. Yes, it takes some work to get there. But you CAN get there.
If you dream of expressing yourself with music, get a good coach and get started. Five years from now, you can be five years further along, or you can be right where you are now, still dreaming about it. The choice is yours.
Music isn’t a destination. It’s a journey. So, join me and let’s get going. As Steven Stills has said: “It’s no matter, the distance. It’s the ride.”
